What is this contest about?

Summer has started and many people have vacation during this time. So instead of goofing around doing absolutely nothing...why not learn a new craft? Something you haven't tried before? It could be fun!
So basically, this contest is about you learning a new craft. You, the entrant, should make something with a technique and medium you haven't tried before.

The Rulebook & Info

It must be a new technique & a new medium. I will go through your gallery and other links I can find, so if I see that you've done this before, you're disqualified.
Entries must be submitted after June 15th and must be submitted to the contest folder.
Entries are unlimited, however, you can only win one prize.
There is no theme. The goal is a new technique.
Do not copy or steal anyone's work. Obviously.
Entries should be entirely made by you, with the exception of photography props or so.
Absolutely no bribing or nice/not-so-nice discussions involving the judging of your artwork.
Artwork should be made for this contest.
You must be a member of FancyCrafts.
In the description of your work, please link back to this contest.
You must be okay with/have permission to give us your address if you win. There are prizes that have to be shipped to you!
Follow all other deviantArt's rules.

Judges are FrozenNote (me) and fishydraws (my friend). There may be more judges, we don't want a subjective opinion here!
There will be 3 winners + honorable mentions.

FAQ

Can I be a judge?
I won't be taking judge applications. Only a few of my friends might join, as judging in one room all together is easier.

Can we expect a deadline extension?
I can assure you there won't be an extended deadline! I'll be moving at the end of July or the start of August, therefore I want to finish this contest before that.

Can it just be a new technique, but the same medium?
No, it has to be both a new technique AND medium. I'm really pushing you out of your comfort zone there

If I win, can I choose the supplies I want?
No, supplies will be given at random, only the quantity will be different.

Can I use tutorials?
Of course! Just be sure to link back to the tutorial or credit the maker.

Why not make a poll so everyone can vote for their favorites?
I don't want this to turn into a "who has the most watchers" contest.

If I don't craft at all, can I still enter?
Of course! Basically, any technique would be a new technique to you then.

Must it be crafts?
YES! That's what our group is all about - crafts, crafts, crafts!
